Not to start the week off on a sour note, but I can’t think of anything else to write about…and I’ve been drinking.
All those OTHER social bookmarking sites
Is there a reason theres like a thousand social bookmarking sites out there? Digg.com, and del.icio.us do just fine for me. Do we really need Netscape, Shoutwire, Sitetagger, Blinklist, Reddit, de.lirio.us, Listable, Spurl, Magnolio, Furl, Blogmemes, Blinkbits, Feedmarker, Ticklr and Diigo?
Are people really that obsessed with knowing the news one day before it’s on CNN that they need that many social bookmarking tools?
Really, it’s a little much. I love the web, and in a lot of ways, it’s my livelihood, but I can’t wait for the social bookmarking/news/link bubble to burst…
All those OTHER css gallery sites
I’m not sure when, or why, but sometime about 2 years ago the internet Gods came down to the poor starving web designers of the world and commanded them to each create a CSS gallery of their own.It seems like every week I have to add another 3-4 new CSS galleries to my bookmarks list, which tend to be longish to begin with, and I get the pleasure of seeing the same 10 or so sites being presented at roughly the same time on all of them. Whats up with this?
What started out as a nice idea for the web designer struggling for inspiration, has quickly turned into the default project for the unemployed/unconnected designer.
I’m not saying some of them aren’t good, some are. But most of em, and I say this with utmost respect, are nothing more than terrible remakes of the same crappy gallery from like 4 years ago that we all fell in love with.
