I’ve been caught a bit off guard since my site was mentioned in an article over at Design Meltdown . Originally I intended on listing my site with all the big search engines and maybe a few CSS galleries once it was finished, but since the article, I’ve had a lot (for me at least) people visiting even though some things (read: a lot of things) aren’t done. Cest la vie, that’s how things are here on the web, and I’m more than thankful to Design Meltdown , and Patrick for the kind words and the free publicity.
The funny thing is that now I find myself trying to get as much done as soon as possible to make the site seem a bit less amatuerish (how ironic considering the my tagline) to the first time visitors. After all, the last thing I want is for someone to visit, and think “Oh, nice presentation, but too bad there’s nothing interesting to read”. I acually made out a list, I’m not sure if anyone else does this, and printed it out, keeping it next to my keyboard reminding me of the stuff left to do. Yet anytime I acually sit down to do something (clean up my CSS, fix the comments, etc…) I find something else that I haven’t thought of.
The picture that keeps popping up in my head is of me walking a bunch of dogs who are interested in anything but behaving. Keep in mind that I’ve never walked dogs before, but I have seen it in movies (especially those set in New York having to do with romance), and it feels the same. I’m like the one in charge, trying to get everyone to move along, when Spot decides to use the restroom, Fluffy almost runs away after a squirell, and they’re all barking. Spot finishes, and then two other dogs start fighting. Maybe being a museum tour guide for a bunch of fifth graders would be a more appropriate metaphor. Anyhow, you get the picture.
